I had a similar experience to the previous reviewer's. Ms. Atkins provided a very detailed assessment of an old piano I had bought. The piano was not in great condition and she spent a great deal of time explaining the options. She comes across as being genuinely interested in her work. She gave me a great deal of advice about buying pianos in general. I decided to replace the old piano with a new one, but Ms. Atkins will be coming back to tune the new piano.
Liz has been tuning my piano every six months for almost a decade. She is always pleasant, organized and on time. I trust her completely and my piano has never sounded better. I would never consider using anyone else. She is the best!
Unfortunately, our experience with Liz was not favorable. Our piano had not been tuned in a while so we had expected a tuning then a return visit to re-tune it because we knew it would not hold the first tuning. However, Liz decided to tune the piano several times during the one visit (and charge for each tuning)! The piano did not hold the tuning (as we expected) but we paid far more than we should have for a single tuning. She was not very professional, did not come prepared, was not helpful answering questions and was extremely negative.We would definitely not have her come again.
Liz has worked on both an old and a newer piano for me. As pointed out, she is consistently pleasant, reliable, and comes completely equipped and prepared. More than that, however, is her skill as a listener. She talked at some length with me to establish my goals, then explained my options. Her knowledge is wide-reaching, and her technical skills seem excellent. I gladly recommend her without reservation.
Liz Atkins is the best! We bought a lovely 30-year old Kawai upright 3 years ago that Ms Atkins had refurbished and couldn't be happier with the piano or the excellent service that Ms Atkins has provided. As per her recommendations, we had the Dampp-Chaser humidity control system installed and had Ms Atkins tune the piano every 6 months. She is knowledgeable not only about the maintenance of this system and the piano, but has expertise in custom tuning. Ms Atkins is not only very professional and punctual with her appointments, but is a delightful person to have around. I've enjoyed a number of interesting and stimulating conversations with her over the years and am happy to had her become a friend as well.
